When should infants start eating solid foods?

CERELAC FAQs

Australian Guidelines recommend introducing solid foods at around 6 months of age, and not before 4 months. In addition to age as an indication, your baby will also show you signs of readiness such as reaching out for food, or opening their mouth when watching you eat or when food is offered on a spoon.  Where possible, you should continue to breastfeed during and after the introduction of solid foods. If you are unsure whether your baby is ready for solids, consult your health care professional for advice.
