What is a Helicopter Parent?

Parenting FAQs

A ‘helicopter parent’ is a common term used for parents who ‘hover’ over their child very closely without letting them out of their sight to exert any independence.  It usually has a negative connotation of being too over-protective.  It is however a subjective term and most likely a judgement call made by others who don’t know the full circumstances of the parent and child.
